Packing non-returning A-paths algorithmically

چکیده
In this paper we present an algorithmic approach to packing A-paths. It is regarded as a generalization of Edmonds’ matching algorithm, however there is the significant difference that here we do not build up any kind of alternating tree. Instead we use the so-called 3-way lemma, which either provides augmentation, or a dual, or a subgraph which can be used for contraction. The method works in the general setting of packing non-returningA-paths. It also implies an ear-decomposition of criticals, as a generalization of the odd ear-decomposition of factor-critical graph.

Packing A-paths in Group-Labelled Graphs via Linear Matroid Parity
Mader’s disjoint S-paths problem is a common generalization of matching and Menger’s disjoint paths problems. Lovász (1980) suggested a polynomial-time algorithm for this problem through a reduction to matroid matching. A more direct reduction to the linear matroid parity problem was given later by Schrijver (2003), which leads to faster algorithms. As a generalization of Mader’s problem, Chudn...
متن کاملPacking Non-Returning A-Paths
Chudnovsky et al. gave a min-max formula for the maximum number of node-disjoint non-zero A-paths in group-labeled graphs [1], which is a generalization of Mader’s theorem on node-disjoint A-paths [3]. Here we present a further generalization with a shorter proof. The main feature of Theorem 2.1 is that parity is “hidden” inside ν̂, which is given by an oracle for non-bipartite matching.
متن کاملRandomness extraction and asymptotic Hamming distance
We obtain a non-implication result in the Medvedev degrees by studying sequences that are close to Martin-Löf random in asymptotic Hamming distance. Our result is that the class of stochastically bi-immune sets is not Medvedev reducible to the class of sets having complex packing dimension 1.
متن کاملTuring Degrees of Reals of Positive Effective Packing Dimension
A relatively longstanding question in algorithmic randomness is Jan Reimann’s question whether there is a Turing cone of broken dimension. That is, is there a real A such that {B : B ≤T A} contains no 1-random real, yet contains elements of nonzero effective Hausdorff Dimension? We show that the answer is affirmative if Hausdorff dimension is replaced by its inner analogue packing dimension. We...
متن کاملGoal Programming and Heuristic Search
The A* algorithm belongs to the class of best first graph-search algorithms and is frequently used to find minimum-cost paths. Recently, A* has been generalised to solve multiple-objective search problems, returning the set of non-dominated solution paths. This paper presents METAL-A*, an admissible heuristic search algorithm for search problems with lexicographic goals that returns the set of ...
